I believe that the best way to accomplish anything is to ask yourself “Is this thing important?”. This is the most important part of being an expert. I have a special favorite mantra that I use: “I can do this, I’m not afraid”.
There are a lot of really effective tools that can help you to do this. I have a tool called focus select that I use to help me focus on important things. It’s an app that you can download on your mobile device. When you use focus select, it takes a picture of the important thing in front of you and then shows you a list of other things that you can have a focus on.
That’s not to say that it’s perfect. It works best when you’re focused on the important thing, but it doesn’t work so well if you’re distracted by something else. I use the tool every day and find that it works well for me.
When I first tried focus select, I found it was easier to focus on things that had an immediate connection to my life. Since then, it has become more about the whole picture, and I find that it is easier to stay focused on what is important than on just the most important thing.
